As the president and CEO of Kansas Medical Clinic, Challa is a board-certified gastroenterologist practicing gastroenterology and hepatology in Topeka.

Challa was inducted to the Topeka Business Hall of Fame in 2020 and is the author of several books.

Topeka Public Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for the school district's commitment to music education.

Now in its 22nd year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
