SAYREVILLE/SOUTH AMBOY, NJ – Real estate website Niche.com has announced its annual “Best Places to Live in New Jersey” list. South Amboy and Sayreville ranked No. 388 and No. 299 in Middlesex County behind Princeton Meadows, which claimed the top spot in the county.
Overall, Princeton Junction and Princeton finished 1-2 in the statewide rankings, followed by Ridgewood, Mountain Lakes, Upper Montclair, Princeton Meadows, Ho-Ho-Kus, New Providence, Glen Rock, and Monmouth Junction in the top 10.
In the Middlesex County rankings, Princeton Meadows took the top spot, followed by Monmouth Junction, Plainsboro Center, Metuchen, Kendall Park, Highland Park, Heathcote, Dayton, Edison, East Brunswick, Cranbury, and Iselin.
Sayreville (Population: 44,292) came in No. 299 overall on the statewide list and No. 22 in Middlesex County. The median home value in Sayreville is $302,800 (national: $217,500), while the median rent is $1,332 /month (national: $1,062). The median household income is $81,883/year. Education levels in the towns are average; Over one third of Sayreville residents have a four-year college degree or higher; 11% have a Master's degree or higher (national: 12%), 24% have a Bachelor's degree (national: 20%) 26% have some college or an Associate's degree. Thirty percent of residents have a high school diploma or equivalent, and 10% of the population has less than high school diploma.

More than one-quarter (28%) of South Amboy residents have a four-year college degree or higher; 9% have a Master's degree or higher (national: 12%), 19% have a Bachelor's degree (national: 20%). Another 31% have some college or an Associate's degree, and 31% have a high school diploma or equivalent. Only 10% of the population has less than high school diploma.
