After going nearly the entire spring without a COVID-19 case contracted at camp, the Red Sox are scrambling less than a week before the season opener.Reliever Matt Barnes tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, and right-hander Matt Andriese is being quarantined for contact tracing.
Barnes threw live batting practice on the main field Friday surrounded by teammates, including left-handed reliever Darwinzon Hernandez “With the guidelines and protocols, it’s a fire drill now,” manager Alex Cora said.
“A few people because of contact tracing have to stay away from camp.”Cora only specifically mentioned Andriese, who was slated to start Saturday.
