The former Auburn guard and Birmingham native announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he is transferring to UAB.
Johnson, whose college career began at Memphis, spent the last three seasons at Auburn.
He morphed into a veteran leader and key rotation piece this past season, when Auburn fielded the youngest roster in Division I basketball.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 9.4 points per game while shooting 36.1 percent from 3-point range 36 percent from the field overall.
Johnson, who played high school ball at Spain Park, is the second SEC transfer to commit to UAB in as many days.
